My name is Joe Garza and I have been tattooing since the age of 15. My specialties include portraits, cover-ups, and custom one of a kind tattoos. It is so important to me that every client is satisfied with the tattoo experience from beginning to end. I believe when a person decides to get a tattoo, it should be a memorable experience.
My motto is, “create what people dream and bring it to life, so the tattoo can be a dream come true.” It is because of this that I am known as the, “The Dream Maker” around the Golden Needle shop.
Golden Needle Tattoo Studio is the first established tattoo studio in the FM Area, opening in 1983! We are the BEST and strive to create and make your tattoo dreams a reality! I have been doing art all of my life. Drawing is my earliest clear memory from childhood. Creating art has never been a choice for me. It has been a driving force, like breathing. Without art, there is no life. I have a commercial art degree, from MAVTI (today known as MState) as well as a BFA from Moorhead State.
I feel strongly about continuing education, both as a learning experience, as well as an inspirational and rejuvenating opportunity. I hold numerous certificates of accomplishment from the many seminars that I have attended. I started Golden Needle Tattoo in 1983, when the thought of tattoos had hardly even entered people’s minds.
In 2009 I had the wonderful pleasure of Joe Garza coming into my life. We became business partners. I eventually transferred the business to Joe. Now, I can do what I have always loved to do. Tattoo and create.
I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2018 with a BFA in Studio Art, Emphasis in Drawing.
I'm passionate about art and nature, and try to replicate nature as precisely as I can in my work. I strive for realism in a variety of subject matters, but my favorite is portraits, both of people and pets, because I love the challenge it provides. It takes a great deal of attention to detail to capture one's likeness and emotion, and I pride myself on being able to do that in my work. In addition to realism, I am happy to take on any style of art my client may want.
Bryan Willms was born in Washington State in 1984. He knew that he wanted to be a tattoo artist from a young age. He would spend hours in his room drawing comic characters and monsters.
Then at the age of 14 he gave himself his first tattoo. That was the start of his obsession with tattoos. He tattooed sporadically until his early 30’s when he started tattooing full time.
